Account Manager/ Producer Brendon Hornell in partnership with Creative Nick McHugh were named the winning team in the Docs Rock! competition run by Documentary New Zealand (DOCNZ) to create a theme and short online advertisement/tvc to be used to promote the 2009 NZ Documentary Festival screening around New Zealand in Auckland and Wellington among other locations.

The commercial screened online, on television, and on cinema screens – as well as being used as the general theme on the poster and festival programmes.

Splinter is a short thriller produced by New Zealand producer Brendon Hornell of Origin One Films and directed by Kiwi director Mark Willis of Wellington featuring well-known local actor Michael Wilson in the lead role. It was funded by Creative NZ’s Screen Innovation Production Fund (SIPF). Excellent sound design and minimal dialogue make this thriller internationally accessible.
